Riverbank State Park
QRP prepared an overall plan for reconstruction of a five-acre area at the south end of Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park, which includes a softball field, sports courts, playground, promenades and overlooks. Due to its intense use, the synthetic turf softball field and adjacent areas was fast-tracked through design and is now completely renovated and open to the public. We are currently completing construction documents for the remainder of the scope which will relocate the playground to a location nestled in a new planted area. New seating elements and canopy trees will provide shade and comfortable places to sit, and the playground features shade structures designed to withstand the windy conditions along the Hudson River to optimize shade over the play equipment. A tilted synthetic turf “front lawn” ringed by a path encourages a range of activities and active play. Because the entire park is built on top of a water treatment facility, the proposed improvements are designed to minimize potential disturbance to the building's protection and waterproofing layers.
