Pugsley Creek Park
Pugsley Creek is located in the Southview section of the Bronx and is part of a larger Shorehaven residential neighborhood developed by the Beechwood Organization.
As part of their development agreement, the developer was required to improve this 3 1/2-acre park to meet current NYC Parks and NYS DEC standards. QRP created an updated design based on the 1988 Shorehaven master plan. The plan included clearly-delineated active and passive recreation. A new ball field and playground were built along a new 12 foot wide path that runs along the western edge of the park to connect the development with the Bronx River Park Bikeway.
A large undulating lawn, picnic area, overlooks and seating areas provide views the East River and Long Island Sound. Permeable pathways were introduced to meet the stormwater requirements. The firm also added plantings, and selectively cleared along the rip-rap edge of the East River.
